We have a assignment is to find ten simple images of a person or an object from the magazine on last Wednesday. Today, we have to bring these ten images which I forgot to bring, so we have to break into groups. We have to find one simple image and have to change its meaning by using ten words or ten short phrases. I think this practice is really hard for me because my English is bad, but it is also full of challenge because I can learn how to substitute the meaning of an image, and learn more adjectives to described images. For the first time of practice, I thought we have to say something that is the opposite meaning of the image, but I know I got it wrong. Therefore, I didn't say anything at first. However, the second practice made me feel more comfortable because I think I know what to do, but I am still bad in English. There are many adjectives I have to check from the dictionary.

On October 7, 2009, we have watched a movie called "Kurosawa." It was a Japanese film in 1990 which talked about eight different dreams. In these eight dreams, the more memorable dream is "The Foxes Wedding" which talks about an old legend when there was a sun shining through the rain, the foxes have its wedding. Also, if someone see the foxes' wedding, he or she will get killed by the foxes or he or she had to suicide. One day, a little boy hide behind a big tree, and saw its wedding. Unfortunately, foxes have found out the little boy was watching its wedding. When the boy went home, his mother didn't let him get in until the little boy beg for forgiveness because the foxes have already sent the knife to the boy which asked him to kill himself. I think this one is an interesting dream to me because I like different legends from other countries. Although this dream is in slow motion, I was curious about what will happen next. On the other hand, at the end it didn't tell us about whether he is alive or dead which seem like let the audiences to create their own ending.

On October 5th, Jimmy taught us about mind-mapping and idea- mapping. Mind- mapping is a graphic way to explore an idea, and the idea-mapping is a way of brainstorming. We have also learned how to draw an idea- mapping which included information, words branches, colors, images and paper. After we learned what is mind-mapping, we have to think of a topic and draw a mind- mapping. In this practice, I have learned how to brainstorm my idea and draw it on the paper. I think it is a great practice because after I draw it, I have discovered that there are many things that can be related to my topic.

2nd day of class on sept 30, 2009
On the second day of class, Jimmy has talked about how to create new knowledge. Also, colors can influence the mood, for example, some of the fast food companies' logos would like to use red and yellow color which can influence people to feel hungry. Because I haven't taken the color theory class, I have never known that every different color has its own meaning. Moreover, I have also learned how to read images because pictures have more meanings than a word. When Jimmy showed us a drawing that Jesus was hanged on the cross, and there are few people were crying for Jesus. At first, the drawing looked so sad, but someone has added two bubbles dialogue next to Jesus and Saint Mary to change the meaning of the drawing, it turns out to be so funny and interesting. On the other hand, a new word that I have learned is iconography which means representation something and idea. Today, we have an assignment is about to draw a graphic novel that tells about what make us to choose college. I think this assignment is more difficult than write an essay, however, it is good for me to practice my drawing and learn how to express myself by drawing a picture.
